Here at Folkies we’re always striving to bring you the best tone. That’s why we decided to re-introduce MXR back into our pedal cabinet for 2016. MXR Pedals are for the serious player. They’re solid, easy to use, affordable, true-bypass and sound great. What more could you want in a pedal?
Here’s a little information on our MXR pedals here at Folkies but of course the best way to see if you like them is to come down and try them out for yourself.
MXR Custom Badass ’78 Distortion: This distortion pedal really is as the name suggests. It’s very balanced in terms of EQ and the distortion is rich and clear. Think Thin Lizzy or Guns ‘n’ Roses for tone however this is effect is so versatile. It could be the distortion that your pedal board is missing!
MXR Phase 90: The fantastic sound of this pedal hasn’t needed much tweaking since its debut in the early 70’s. If you’re looking to add some more interesting modulation and texture to your playing then this phaser is for you. The phase 90 will add shimmery velocity to lead passages or a more dramatic swoosh to muted strumming.
MXR Uni-Vibe Chorus/Vibrato: Since the 60s, players have used the iconic Uni-Vibe to expand their tonal possibilities. The MXR team has just re-mastered this classic effect for the modern player whilst maintaining the classic chewy, Leslie-Sounding goodness. Of course it is a must have for fans of Jimmy Hendrix who is synonymous with this fantastic effect.
MXR Dyna Comp: The MXR Dyna Comp is one of the most popular compressors of all time; and that’s not surprising really. This box will produce that percussive, clicky sound on a clean guitar that you've heard on so many pop hits. It also adds smooth sustain to lead lines.
MXR Bass Compressor: Although this pedal is obviously aimed at the bass player, it also sounds fantastic on electric guitar but if that wasn’t enough it can even be used as a studio compressor too! You can tell even before plugging this pedal in that it means business by the sheer amount of knobs alone. This allows for ultimate control over your compression, from subtle peak limiting to hard squashed compression effects; it does it all.
